Visit a local township near Cape Town, where you can experience the some of the realities of living in South Africa, and later spend time in Stellenbosch, home to the oldest wine route in the Cape.

ITINERARY

Township kids learning about cycling

Experience township living

We will meet you at accommodation in Cape Town and depart towards Stellenbosch, home to the oldest wine route in the Cape, via the township of Khayelitsha.

On the cycle tour to Khayelitsha we witness the construction of the cycling path whilst visiting various community projects.

• Vicky´s B & B – visit Vicky who runs a Bed and Breakfast form her informal home
• Beauty – who has a sewing project
• Golden – who makes flowers out of discarded cooldrink cans
• Rosie – who runs a community kitchen
• A township school
• Philani – a weaving project where single mothers learn the art of weaving whilst their children are looked after by day care at the centre Lunch in the township shebeen (pub) is traditional African cuisine such as fried chicken with cooked vegetables, lamb curry with rice or mielie pap.

For those who haven’t drunk too much African beer we cycle back to Spier Wine Estate where we relax and enjoy wine tasting or a visit to the cheetah rehabilitation centre.
