On Friday, 10th March, delegates
will have the opportunity to visit relevant sites around Cape
Town where the Velo Mondial 2006 objectives are being put into
place. When registering, delegates will be able to choose one
Site Visit from the following:
Bicycling
Empowerment Network (BEN) Bicycle Workshops
Participants will have the opportunity to experience BEN’s
flagship upliftment program, which has successfully integrated
the bicycle into a local community. Meet the local people,
experience township life and see how the bicycle positively
impacts disadvantaged communities.
Klipfontein Corridor
Visit Cape Town’s Mobility Strategy at work. Geared
towards enhancing quality of life of both commuters and pedestrians,
with a healthy balance between motorised transport and the
provision of safer public spaces, the Klipfontein Corridor
is inspirational.
City Cycle Route
Cape Town is undergoing a transformation of its road network
and bicycle paths are being incorporated across the city.
Participants will experience the effectiveness of some of
these routes as an alternative transport mode in the City.
MTN Science Centre
An internationally acclaimed exhibition detailing the history
of the bicycle and bicycle innovation
