Ancient rivers, lush forests, deep ravines
and narrow winding mountain passes all add to the mystery
of the Garden Route for the adventurous traveller. The Garden
Route tour from Cape Town to Addo Elephant National Park is
for the discerning traveller who is seeking adventure but
also the comforts of a Guest Lodge. Some exciting and varied
mountain-biking routes are planned for this trip. Ostrich
riding, exploring the Cango Caves, bungi-jumping the worlds
highest jump as well as the big five adventure in Addo Elephant
National Park are also all part of the experience.
From Cape Town, relax and enjoy the drive along Route 62 through
the Little Karoo. After a visit to an Ostrich farm in the afternoon
a relaxed 29km ride exploring this beautiful valley is planned.
The evening is spent in a magnificent Victorian farmhouse which
dates from 1910 near Oudtshoorn.
DAY 2:
Spend the day mountain biking through the vast expanse of the
Outeniqua Mountains. Enjoy 50km of riding through beautiful
mountain passes and discover the secrets that Oudtshoorn has
to offer. Exploring the Cango Caves is a must for the adventurous
traveller. Guests are treated to another luxurious night in
the same guesthouse.
DAY 3:
The mountain bike ride from the town of Uniondale through Avontuur
to Knysna takes you through some of South Africa’s only
indigenous rainforest. An optional 90km of cycling for those
that are keen to take up the challenge! Spend the night in the
comfortable African style lodge with magnificent views over
Plettenberg Bay.
DAY 4:
Spend a day cycling 25km on quiet scenic roads on the old Bain’s
passes, hiking through forests and relaxing on the beach. For
the adrenaline junkies, the world’s highest bungi jump
is an option! Spend the night in forest cabins in Tsitsikamma
Nature Reserve overlooking the sea.
DAY 5:
The morning is spent travelling to Port Elizabeth. In the afternoon
a game drive to Addo Elephant National Park and sundowners is
arranged. We spend the night at Zuurberg Mountain Inn, a haven
of historical delight set high up on the Zuurberge, and is a
peaceful & truly unique mountain top retreat, set in 160
hectares of indigenous vegetation, with breathtaking views overlooking
the Addo Elephant National Park.
DAY 6:
After breakfast enjoy mountain-biking the Zuurberg Mountains.
A 20-30km ride is arranged. Lunch is included in the packages.
Afternoon games drive to Addo Elephant National Park. You can
enjoy dinner back at the Inn after your game drive.
DAY 7:
After breakfast we depart for Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
A day of travelling. Flights departing from Port Elizabeth can
be arranged, otherwise guests will be returned to Cape Town
as part of the tour.
